Future of Wearable Health Technology Is Finally Here. Meet the Next Generation of Innovation from Oura.
Long awaited, the Oura Ring 4 has finally been launched with many exciting new upgrades in one of the world’s most popular health-tracking smart rings. The new Oura Ring will have advanced design, extended sizing options, and better health sensors. Taking the premise from its predecessor, the Oura Ring 3, this one seeks to unveil more accurate health-related data, feel much more comfortable, and offers better sensor technology at $349.
What’s New in the Oura Ring 4?
Its sleeker, slimmer design might well be the most important update on the Oura Ring 4. Even the Oura Ring has always been a small device, it took things to the next level with the current generation by making it even smaller in profile. The ring became way more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing without compromising on its impressive technology. The new ring has a larger size range, from 4 to 15, and is available in six gorgeous colors, including a new “deeper black”.
This extended sizing range will get the Oura Ring 4 in many more wrists for people who fit the new size range. Its titanium construction continues to be true, offering lightweight strength that feels exactly like wearing a traditional ring.
Deeper Sensing for Better Accuracy
While the thinner design is sleek-looking, the magic lies inside the Oura Ring 4. The ring now has recessed sensors, which on the Oura Ring 3 were slightly protruding. With them, it is capable of capturing more precise health data and will provide a smoother, more stable user experience. According to Oura, photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors are arranged asymmetrically to enable high-quality signals as well as power efficiency.
It’s out of the box with an accelerometer for movement tracking and green, red, and infrared LEDs to monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature. In addition, it continues measuring blood oxygen (SpO2) levels, another feature that does not exist in the new Apple Watch, and hence advanced health tracking for Oura Ring 4.
Our Performance Upgrades
The performance upgrade of the new Oura Ring 4 is outstandingly great when comparing it to the previous model and includes:
-Increase the blood oxygen sensing signal quality by 120% and deliver a 30% increase in accuracy for SpO2 measurements.
-Increase the BDI accuracy by 15% by achieving higher signal fidelity
-Reduce nighttime heart rate data gaps by 7%
-Reduce daytime heart rate readings data gaps by 31%.
These improvements are particularly important for fitness enthusiasts who demand the most precise, real-time health monitoring. Whether tracking stress levels, cardiovascular age, or cycle stages, the Oura Ring 4 brings with it a level of visibility into health that was previously unknown.
Longer Battery Life than Competitors among Wearables
Long battery life has, so far been one of the defining characteristics of the Oura Ring collection, and the Oura Ring 4 does not break that trend. The lack of a screen means that the device goes for long periods without burning up energy, thus supporting up to eight days of battery life on a single charge. That is a significantly massive selling point than the smartwatches that need daily charging.
Innovative Features with the Oura Labs and AI Integration
In addition, the company has developed interesting new software functions with Oura Labs, a testing ground intended for experimental functions before they come into vogue. Meal tracking is one feature to which Android users will gain access, by virtue of its recent acquisition of metabolic health startup Veri.
Another of the more interesting add-ons is a feature called Symptom Radar, an idea designed to alert users if they are getting ill. It was originally devised for professional sporting leagues, like the NBA, when the pandemic was first hitting and is now available for individuals to download.
The Oura Ring 4 introduces Oura Advisor, an experimental AI-powered feature that creates a personalized conversation with users to help them understand their health data and reach their goals. This feature is an integration of generative AI combined with Oura’s health insights, to provide more personalized advice to make health management more accessible.
Price, Availability, and Membership
The Oura Ring 4 can be preordered for $349, and the company says shipments will begin on October 15. New users will get one month of free membership to Oura’s software platform, after which they can subscribe for $6 a month or $70 per year. Oddly, Oura has opted to continue selling the third-generation ring until stock runs out, which provides consumers with a range of choices at a lower price point.
For those willing to welcome wearable health tech into the future, the Oura Ring 4 offers an attractive bundle of innovation features, stylish design improvements, and emerging health tracking technology.
